Principe di Salina is a boutique hotel in Malfa, on the island of Salina (Aeolian Islands, Sicily). We bring people together around beauty, warmth, and a sense of home — always within a stunning natural landscape with sea views and private spaces.
Inspired by Sicilian tradition and a family spirit of hospitality, Principe di Salina blends local craftsmanship with an international touch. Our guests are mostly international leisure travelers (primarily English-speaking) who choose us for the atmosphere, the details, and above all the care: service at Principe di Salina is personal, calm, discreet, and consistently outstanding.
We are now looking to build a highly dedicated seasonal team to deliver the guest experience to its highest potential.
Cook
Job Description
Principe di Salina is in search of a Cook to join our kitchen team and support daily service across breakfast/lunch and dinner operations. Our kitchen is small (up to 35 covers) and works under the guidance of an Executive Kitchen Supervisor who oversees standards, organization, and consistency.
The ideal candidate is proactive and independent in execution, while also being respectful of rules, recipes, hygiene standards, and the way we work as a team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a boutique environment where the focus is on care, precision, positivity, and flexibility rather than volume.
Kitchen structure (for clarity):
- We do not operate with “Cook A / Cook B” levels.
- We typically cover three main execution areas:
- Breakfast + lunch
- Lunch + pastry
- Dinner
(Pastry skills are a plus and can fit into any of the three areas.)
Responsibilities
Culinary Quality & Consistency
- Prepare and execute dishes with attention to detail, consistency, and presentation aligned with Principe di Salina standards.
- Support daily mise en place and service for your assigned section (breakfast/lunch or dinner).
- Work with the Executive Kitchen Supervisor to follow recipes, plating standards, and daily priorities.
- Handle ingredients with care, minimizing waste and maintaining high quality.
Operational Support (Small Kitchen Mindset)
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and follow HACCP/hygiene standards at all times.
- Support smooth service flow in a calm and efficient way (quality-first, not quantity-first).
- Assist with basic prep, storage, labeling, and end-of-shift cleaning routines.
- Be flexible to support different service moments when needed (breakfast/lunch/dinner).
Team Collaboration & Attitude
- Contribute to a positive, respectful kitchen environment — we work closely, so attitude matters.
- Communicate clearly with the team and front-of-house when needed to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Be proactive: notice what’s needed, anticipate next steps, and take initiative while respecting the chain of command.
Requirments
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen (hotel or restaurant).
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and collaborative working style.
- Ability to work independently on tasks while also following rules, standards, and direction.
- Attention to detail, cleanliness, and consistency.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude (small team, boutique environment).
- Pastry experience is a plus (not required).
- Culinary school diploma is a plus (not required if experience and attitude are strong).
Benefits
Principe di Salina offers a competitive seasonal salary based on the candidate’s qualifications and skills. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and motivating environment that values quality, teamwork, and respect.
- Seasonal contract (end of April / May to November)
- Staff accommodation provided
- Boutique kitchen environment focused on quality over quantity
